QCML technicians and engineers have years of experience working within a wide range of industries, including automotive, metal producers, manufactures, welders, machine shop fabricators and coating/plating companies. Our expertise goes beyond conducting routine mechanical and chemical analysis of materials. We specialize in conducting Root Cause Failure analysis and material consulting and investigation.

Why QCML?

The purpose of all of our failure analysis reports is to answer three questions: how it failed, why it failed and how to prevent failures in the future. Our metallurgical engineers can evaluate your failed part and will not only identify the root cause of the failure but make suggestions on how to prevent similar failures in the future. This testing is completed by experienced technicians utilizing Scanning Electron Microscopy with Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), metallographic evaluation, chemical and mechanical testing. As manufactures continue to innovate and utilize polymers in a wider range of materials, QCML has also increased our testing services to include polymer testing. We can conduct polymer identification by FTIR analysis, analyze plastic and paper products for metals concentration. We also conduct mechanical testing on fiberglass products, polymers and cellulose materials.

QCML also has the capability to conduct non-destructive chemical analysis on metals either on site or at our laboratory. Utilizing X-ray fluorescence technology we can determine the chemical make-up of most alloyed materials and determine the chemistry of plating/ metal coatings. The testing does not mark or damage the part and is typically used for Positive Material Identification (PMI). Finished parts can be tested to determine they meet your customer’s specification prior to final assembly of the product.
